ABOUT THE ROLE
As a STAND contributor, you will create one piece of content per month with a specific focus on human rights and development issues under one of the following sections:

  • NEWS
  • OPINION
  • ARTS & CULTURE
  • SPORTS
  • ENVIRONMENT
  • DIVERSITY & INCLUSION
  • WOMEN
  • HUMANITARIAN AID
  • BUSINESS
  • CONSUMER AFFAIRS

As a not-for-profit initiative focused on raising awareness and understanding of global justice and equality, all of our Contributors are volunteers. We ask for a commitment of about 2-3 hours per month (working remotely at times convenient to you) and that you contribute at least one piece of content per month.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As the STAND News Opinion Editor, you will seek out comment and analysis on global issues from the people who understand them best, including humanitarians, community workers, activists and affected communities.

Our Section Editors receive support from the STAND News team to carry out the following:

  • Work with the STAND News editor to plan content and deadlines for your section
  • Pitch stories to the STAND News Editor and attend the STAND News monthly team meeting
  • Create and commission and edit content for your section 
  • Source visuals (photography, video, graphics and artwork) for your content (adhering to copyright laws)
  • Comply with media law and ethical guidelines (NUJ and Dochas codes of conduct)


The ideal candidate will be:

How will we overcome the biggest humanitarian challenges of the 21st century? As STAND News Innovation Editor, you will seek to answer that question, with stories about design, cities, activism, food, futurism, sustainability, and everything in between!
